The Bioeconomy Department (Prof. Dr. Franziska Schünemann) is seeking a postdoctoral research fellow (m/f/d). The position is classified at TV-L 13 (100%, 39.5 hours per week) and is initially limited to 3 years

Set on a uniquely beautiful campus, the University of Hohenheim is a specialised university bringing together the three faculties of Agricultural Sciences, Natural Sciences, and Economics and Social Sciences, with around 9,000 students enrolled. Our green campus, where everything is within easy reach, fosters collaboration and creates a vibrant and inspiring environment for our approximately 2,000 staff to conduct research, teach and work. We are shaping a sustainable future and developing solutions to the societal challenges of our time. Here, ambitious minds will find a community in which they can grow and flourish.

The Department of Bioeconomics (Prof. Dr Franziska Schünemann) is seeking, starting as soon as possible, a Research Fellow (Postdoc) (m/f/d) to contribute to economic research in the bioeconomy and teaching. In particular, the candidate is expected to contribute significantly to the development of innovative and interdisciplinary simulation model ex ante to assess the economic, societal, and environmental impacts of the bioeconomy. This includes identifying potential trade-offs and synergies between these dimensions.

This position offers a dynamic research environment, excellent opportunities for academic qualification and for developing an independent profile in both research and teaching.

  • Completed PhD in Economics or Applied Economics (e.g., Bioeconomics, Agricultural Economics, Environmental Economics, Resource Economics) or a related discipline

  • Strong interest in interdisciplinary research in the field of bioeconomy

  • Experience in interdisciplinary research projects and in acquiring third-party funding is an advantage

  • Solid programming skills, including experience working with simulation models such as equilibrium and optimization models, and related software (e.g., GAMS, Python); experience with AI-based programming and data analysis is a plus

  • Willingness to actively contribute to teaching; prior teaching experience is desirable

  • Strong publication record or clear potential for publishing in international scientific journals; experience presenting research at international conferences is an advantage

  • Ability to conduct independent research, develop own research questions, and actively contribute to existing research projects

  • Strong teamwork skills, initiative, and sense of responsibility, as well as willingness to work in an international and interdisciplinary research environment

  • Excellent command of English (written and spoken); knowledge of German is an advantage
